To music ranging from West African drumming to the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, your children will learn to tap into their soul’s rhythm. The class begins with a thorough yoga based warm-up and stretch followed by a floor routine incorporating Ayesha’s contemporary funk style. Students can expect to learn important foundational dance technique in a fun and explorative atmosphere. At the end of each lesson, the students will have a chance to improvise as a group, which encourages confidence and the development of their own personal style.

Yoga 4 Kids is an integrated and holistic program of yoga instruction that combines postures, dynamic movements, simple breath exercises, meditation and deep relaxation with yoga activities that children enjoy. Yoga promotes children’s mental and physical health as well as encourages their creative imagination & self-expression.

KIDS' KARATE with Sensei Shane Walters

Karate, which translates as ‘empty hand way’, focuses on disciplining the mind, body, and spirit. Students will be introduced to some basic tools found in Goju Ryu Karate. Goju Ryu, which means Hard Soft Style, was developed by Sensei Chojun Miyagi of Okinawa in 1913, although the art would not be named Goju until 1930.

Students will learn striking principles, self defense based on classical Japanese ju jitsu and to identify the applications found in the core katas (forms) of Goju Ryu. Intention is placed on promoting love, peace, harmony and compassion. Students will notice improvement to their confidence, awareness, strength, and stamina. Gambate!

Students will learn:

  • 2 -3 self-defences
  • a variety of strikes
  • one stationary from

Sensei Shane asks that participants with long hair wear their hair tied back and that all jewellery such as watches, bracelets, rings, earrings, necklaces, etc, be removed or covered with a band-aid in order to prevent injury. If you arrive late, please wait for Sensei Shane to invite you into the class.

Uniforms are required and can be purchased at the studio.
